Sustainability

Our Choice

Our sustainability efforts must permeate every aspect of our business, from concept to design and recycling. High-quality products from Svedbergs last for many years and contribute to our profitable business as well as benefiting society.

Sustainability strategy Svedbergs Group

The sustainability strategy of Svedbergs Group is known as “Our Choice”. Active efforts – and active choices – underlie everything we do to develop and improve sustainability. Our ambition is that Svedbergs Group should lead the way in offering sustainable bathroom furniture in the markets where the Group operates. We take a deliberate approach to sustainability topics throughout the value chain, from product development and selection of raw materials to choosing responsible suppliers and production processes. Roper Rhodes was incorporated into the Group on 1 December 2021, and will therefore be included in Svedbergs’ sustainability report for 2022.

Our sustainability strategy has five focus areas, each with goals for the year 2025. These set a clear direction for the work ahead.

  1. Reduce the environmental impact of our products
  2. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  3. Use resources efficiently
  4. Source wood from sustainable forestry operations
  5. Corporate social responsibility

New initiatives and special measures in 2021

In 2021, we produced a climate report in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, scopes 1 and 2. We have also begun the process of preparing to report on scope 3 in the future. We are progressively switching to LED lighting to reduce our electricity consumption and have started using heat exchangers to supply waste heat from compressors to the district heating network. The replacement of doors and draught-proofing at our production facility in Dalstorp has improved the working environment and reduced heat losses. An energy monitoring system has also been installed at the same facility to identify waste and optimise operations.

All our employees can help

Svedbergs Group strives to be a responsible social stakeholder that contributes to sustainable development. Our goal is that all new employees should receive sustainability training, to present and explain important goals. We are also reviewing the expectations we place on each employee in our efforts to drive forwards sustainability.

The pace of change is rapid. We need to continually review processes and routines and develop our sustainability efforts. We have implemented many major changes in the organisation, but we still have much to do.

Five focus areas

Svedbergs Group has identified five focus areas in the business where there is a clear priority for investment in sustainability. This gives the Group a direction for its efforts and increases our opportunities to make a difference.

Several processes have been used to identify the company’s focus areas. We conduct ongoing stakeholder dialogues and on the basis of these we have produced materiality analyses. By consulting with stakeholders we gather the views of everyone who is affected by our business. Risk analyses are also part of our sustainability efforts. The UN sustainable development goals provide an important framework for our efforts. Seven of the global goals are particularly relevant to our business and our focus areas.
